OPEIU Remembers the Legacy of Charlie Ponti (1913-2019)

The members, staff and elected leaders of OPEIU mourn the loss of our beloved brother in the fight for justice, Charlie Ponti, who passed away last Friday, June 28, at the age of 106.

For 77 years, Brother Ponti served OPEIU as a union organizer, business representative and, later, as president of the Local 153 Retirees Association. As the longest-serving member of OPEIU, and as an integral part of our union for the better part of a century, OPEIU is committed to ensuring his legacy – and his lifelong commitment to organizing the unorganized – is remembered for generations to come.

Sign the petition to support striking Verizon workers

Verizon workers are on strike to prevent the telecommunications giant from using its massive profits – earned on the backs of its employees and enlarged even further thanks to the 2017 corporate tax cut – to outsource good-paying jobs overseas.

Sign the petition below to show your solidarity with striking Verizon workers, and to signal to Verizon executives that working people are united in opposition to their offshoring.
