As we move forward into 2026, we’re taking time to reflect on the great work of our union and its members. Throughout the year, OPEIU members across the country organized for and won historic contracts — in health care and at tech companies, nonprofits, universities, credit unions and media companies. In 2026, we will be working each and every day to build on these wins and expand worker power, workplace by workplace. OPEIU will continue, as we have since our 1945 founding, to remain on the front lines of the fight for economic justice at work and in our communities. We hope for you and your loved ones a relaxing start to the new year. We look forward to continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder with you, your co-workers and working people everywhere throughout 2026 and beyond.
Did you hear the good news? The U.S. House of Representatives could soon vote on a bill to undo the largest single union-busting action ever, restoring union protections to 1 million federal workers.

Introduced by Reps. Jared Golden (D-Maine) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pennsylvania), this bipartisan bill would undo an executive order from March that stripped collective bargaining rights from most federal workers. Thousands of federal workers — including our OPEIU siblings at the Department of Energy in Tennessee — faced layoffs, reassignment and other workplace mistreatment while being denied the protections of their union.
