This space will be aimed at shedding light on the current situation that Puerto Rico is going through. From the impact of the economic crisis that began in 2014; the devastation left behind by Hurricanes Maria and Irma in 2017; the decimation caused by a series of earthquakes that have shaken the island since late 2019; to the health, social and financial crisis that COVID-19 has unleashed upon working families across the island.

Take the Census TODAY! New Deadline: Sept. 30

The 2020 Census is underway and is now due by Sept. 30, 2020. Nearly 90 million households have yet to be counted. It's vital that every household participate.

The crucial demographic data documented in the survey has a far-reaching impact on how the federal government distributes resources to our communities, ranging from Medicaid and food stamp funding to infrastructure investment and even the size of your state’s congressional delegation.

Take five minutes today to do your part and fill out the 2020 Census online, over the phone or by mail using the information on the postcard you should have received in your mailbox by April 1. Visit my2020census.gov for more information on how to fill out the short form with big implications.

OPEIU Local 2 Member Recognized for His Role in Keeping the AFL-CIO Running

Vincent Clemons (OPEIU) has been working as a day maintenance staffer with the AFL-CIO’s Facility Management since October 2011. He is a very responsible employee who takes great pride in his work. Vincent works with other Facility staff to keep the building clean and ensure smooth operations. He is eager, open to learning new things and a good team player, always willing to go the extra mile and ready to help everyone. His positive attitude is a welcome sign to those he interacts with, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. His managers and colleagues appreciate Vincent’s impeccable work, dedication and willingness to do whatever it takes
