OPEIU Demonstrations Met with Police Violence

OPEIU, SEIU and IBEW members gather outside Fortalaza, the governors's office in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico to protest the layoff of 17,000 government employees. Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, demonstrators met with police violence. OPEIU International Representative Iram Ramirez was clubbed by the police, just for taking part in the demonstration.

Other demonstrations are planned for this week and on October 15 at the state capitol building.
